How to deal with Off-Track and On-Track Words in WAT ( Word Association Test) in SSB

Hello....my dear service aspirants. I have got an important information to share with u all. In service selection board interview every individual testing got its own importance. But to be frank Psychology is an important in all testings.

Psychology: In psychology testing we all have to undergo TAT, WAT, SRT,SAT, these 4 tests decides further testing procedure of an individual. Today i would like to share the idea behind the WAT: WORD ASSOCIATION TEST

This test is very simple in comparison with any other testing in psychology. Candidly its not word that is shown to you. Its the situation to which u are exposed to and psychologist would like to know your responses to that word(situation) . I would example u all people in detail with an example. Let’s consider word SEX Responses: The response that i likely to be given is
1. Sex is the origin of life
2. Every mammal have sex organs

The response should be given in this way. But the response should be positive, Now i would like to go in detail and explain the type of words that are given in SSB for WAT. Words can be classified into two types they are OFF TRACK and ON TRACK words. These two words will be describe what sort of personality you have.

Importance of ON TRACK words.

These words are basically are used to project your personality. For example lets consider a word like PLAN Responses that are likely to be given should be your reaction or your idea for a plan. In your life you all people lead a life with a plan. So they expect your response for plan in your views, The response that is expected is
1. An effective plan leads to success
2. A smart planning gives easy execution

OFF TRACK words

These words are given just confuse. And psychologist is want to know you, your reaction even after exposure to a confusion state. For example let’s consider a word like BRIDGE The response should be natural for OFF TRACK words. The response should is given for these words are
1.     1.Bridges are build across river.

NOTE: ASPIRANTS PLEASE DON'T MANIPULATE YOUR RESPONSES TOO MUCH.THEY ARE THERE TO SELECT U.SO PLEASE BE NATURAL WITH POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND CLARITY IN THOUGHT

Totally 60 words will be given to u and u need to finish them off in 30 min and practice is required for this test. Keep practicing them with natural and positive responses.
NOTE: IT’S A TEST OF YOUR PSYCHOLOGY. SO PLEASE STOP GIVING GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AS YOUR RESPONSES. PUT FORWARD YOUR VIEWS WITH A HOPE AND COURAGE AVOID THE MAXIMUM USAGE OF "SHOULD" "MUST" OR WORDS WHICH ARE LIKELY USED TO GIVE ADVICE TO OTHERS.

Mostly asked  GD Topic ~ Which is the biggest problem our Indian Army is Facing?

Boys if you are going to attend your SSB interview in upcoming days then you must prepare this topic for your lecturette and group Discussion as it will cover three discussion i.s Jammu and Kashmir problem, North-East Problem and Naxals Problem in India. I have provided a separate post on North-East problem in India read that also.
  1. J&K problem
  2. NE problem
  3. Naxals Problem

India is facing a number of internal problems. One of the major problem inherited since the days of partition is Jammu and Kashmir. As the years passed, the North Eastern states got into insurgency. Starting with the Nagaland in 1956, the problem has spread to Assam, Mizoram and Manipur. As these problems were not enough, a new challenge came in the form of Naxal problem. This problem picked up in 1967 and now it has engulfed 180 districts. Due to its magnitude, the killings, lootings and extortion, the problem has national dimensions.

J&K Problem

This problem started as Mahraja Hari Singh, decided to keep J&K, independent, as buffer state between India & Pakistan. Both countries have fought a number of wars during 1947-48, 1965, 1971 and Kargil in 1999. The Pakistan sponsored militancy also started since 1988-89. Pakistan, with the help of local and foreign militants wants to liberate J&K from India. India will never allow Pakistan this option. India has proposed to convert this line of control(LOC) into permanent border between India and Pakistan. Pakistan has not agreed to this proposal.. The solution to the problem should be acceptable to the Govt. Of India, Pakistan and people of J&K. the talks between both countries have been abandoned due to 26/11 attacks on Mumbai with political stability returning to both sides the political dialogue for peace may hopefully resume soon.

North-East Problem

The insurgency in Nagaland started in 1956. The armed Forces special Power act 1958 was enforced to give legal powers to Armed forces to carry out operations against the militants. Insurgency spread to Mizoram in 1980’s. Assam had its own problem after the creation of Bangladesh from where many people infiltrated and became Indian citizens. ULFA is fighting for a separate Independent Assam and all the foreigners to be thrown out from Assam. Manipur insurgency is the latest. The main problem is the ethnic entity and control of area along the Myanmar border to control smuggling and opium activities. The govt is having ceasefire with both the factions of Nagas since 1997. Talks with ULFA are expected because of a pro-India govt In Bangladesh. The army alongwith Assam rifles are trying to control the situation in Manipur.

Naxals Problem

This is a socio-economic problem for the country. It started in 1967 from a village, Naxalbari in West Bengal. These people were poor peasant’s whose land has been merged with big landlords or money lenders. From west Bengal the problem has spread to Bihar, Jharkhand, Orrisa, Chattisgarh, Andhra, Maharashtra and MP. They demand economic reforms which will boost agriculture and industrial sectors. They want judicial reforms so that justice is prompt and cheap. One of the factors for growth of Nexal problems is lack of social reform. This has forced the poor problem, SC to join Naxal moment. Lack of development and poor governance have added to the existing resentment. Naxal are killing govt officials, looting banks, damaging govt. property to enforce their writ. The govt is trying to fight this menace by pooling resources, joint operations by the state and motivating the locals.
All these problems have their own significance. The govt. can not ignore any of the problems. But Naxals problems which is spread to 1/3rd of India has become a major problem which govt. has to tackle at war footing.

Who is responsible for crime against Women? AND What we should Do?
Lecturette and GD topic:Crime against womens in India
Crime against Womens In India
Is it your SSB interview time now, then be prepared for some hot GD and Lecturette Topics like this, they may ask yor for a GD or Lecturette on crime against womens in India. Prepare for this guys from this post.

a) Male dominated Society
b) Western Influence
c) Lack of Awareness

Our civilization taught us to respect women. We have been taught from our child hood to respect our sister and mother. Yet newspapers are full of many types of crime against women. Headline of yesterday, news of today, two girls Nisha Sharma and Farzana stood boldly against the demands of dowry from their respective in laws. Saying no just before marriage has stopped the crime against them. Timely step has saved them. But what about all other Nisha Sharma and Farzana.

A big question, who is responsible for crime against women. Male dominance is there but along with it there is lack of education and poverty. Women are themselves unaware of their rights and laws framed to protect them against different exploitation and crimes. Recent trends show that there is increase in the crimes, but on a positive note number of them have been stopped due to awareness and reports made to police. Human Rights Violation against women and also home violence is been taken up seriously. Government and NGOs are working to frame programmes and plan to deal with all these problems.

Male Dominated society

In our country male has dominated the women throughout. The crime against women starts even before she is born. If the parents come to know that the child is likely to be a girl they plan for an abortion. She is discriminated in education and providing food and cloth. After marriage she is forced to change her name. She is physically abused and forced into flesh trade. A former Miss Bangalore who was arrested from a five star hotel is a latest case of male abuse of women, which made sensational headline. Earlier we lived in big joint families, the elders in some ways protected the women. However due to the concept of nuclear families coming in today we are now more exposed to crime. In our society the parents feels happy when a son tells them that he has girlfriends. But the same becomes hostile when their daughter tells that she has a boy friend.

Western Awareness

Every country has its own customs and culture. Of late others have influenced us. The women today wear Jeans and Skirts in a big way. It is primarily because they feel more comfortable in these dresses. Can you imagine today women running in sari trying to catch a DTC bus. But in smaller cities however the western influence is marginal. Moreover when it comes to marriage the most modem girls like to wear saris. In Western families the only precaution they take is that the girl should be careful and not comeback late in the night. They should be accompanied by parents & avoid strangers and excessive drinks. Our culture has taught us to respect women. Then how come when we see a girl in jeans and skirts we feel she is a loose-charactered woman.

Lack of Awareness

After the dowry cases in our country were reported w hen many women died, the government had made very strong rules and the culprits were also punished to death. Today the law says "no safai, no gawahi". If any dowry case is reported the culprit is straight away put behind bars. The Ex Police Commissioner of Delhi Police had once praised the Women of Delhi, who had come forward to report the crime committed against them. He said when these crimes are reported only then the govt & the parliament can make rules in support of the women & these rules will help 100's and 1000's of illiterate women who are not educated enough to report these crimes. No wonder our Home Minister is already talking ofgiving death sentence to the rapists.

SHOULD HINDI REMAIAN NATIONAL LANGUAGE AND ENGLISHA BE MADE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE: GD, Debate and Lecturette Topic

Hindi Vs English is very important topic in Debates in Schools, colleges and it may be asked in Group Discussion or in Lecturette in SSB Interview. This is multipurpose article you should read for your knowledge.
Group Discussion on HIndi vs English
Hindi Vs English Group Discussion

a)      Hindi as National Language

b)      Hindi as Official Language
c)       English as Official Language

The debate about making Hindi as National Language and English as Official of Link Language is very old. It started with the framing of our constitution. Under the British rule, English was the language of higher education and administration. After independence, the politicians in the North stated pleading that Hindi be made the Official Language of India,  while those is South insisted on English to be continued as Link Language. The matter was discussed in the Constituent Assembly and a compromise formula was evolved. The official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagri script but English shall continue to be used for all the official purposes for 15 years from the date of commencement of constitution.

Hindi as National Language

After the independence, Indian states were reorganized on the basis of regional languages. States in North India have Hindi speaking people. He states in East, West, and South have their own regional languages. The people in these states do not fully comprehend Hindi. Overall, majority of people in India speak Hindi. An independent country has to have its own national language. Since Hindi is spoken by the most of a people, the choice naturally falls on Hindi.

Hindi as Official Language

It is well known fact that a person is capable of expressing best in the mother tongue. Since, most people in India speak Hindi, it is natural that Hindi be made the official language of India. The non-Hindi states can be encouraged to learn Hindi. Efforts have been made to introduce Hindi in schools of the states where it is not the mother tongue. The younger generations in these states are growing learning Hindi. In spite of the best efforts by the Central Govt. to propagate Hindi in the non-Hindi states, there has been a considerable resistance against its imposition. The opposition to Hindi in these states is expected to slow down with the passage of time.
Hindi has a rich heritage and literature. It has successfully replaced English in the fields of Administration, judiciary and medium of instruction in Higher learning in some of the states in the North. Hindi can easily replace English as Official Language of India.

English as Official Language

English is the language, which is spoken and understood throughout India by the educated people. It can be better link language than any of the Indian languages including Hindi. English is already in use in India in higher administration, higher learning and higher judiciary. There is a widespread network of English medium public schools throughout the country. English is no more the language of elite, it is the language of all educated people who want to grow and excel in their respective fields.
The main reason for the boom in Information Technology in India has been the availability of English speaking people. The young boys and girls could talk on telephone to American in their accent sitting in call centers in India. The Americans find it cheaper to outsource their Business Processes Financial Accounting, Legal documentation, Medical Transcription to India, because skilful people in India can work on these processes in English.
English is language of Business, Science and Technology. It is spoken and understood all over the world. It is the medium of international communication. With globalization of our economy it has become necessary to retain English as the official language so as to interact internationally. At the same time it would be easier to communicate with different states in English.

Things you should Do and Remember while facing SSB: Recommendation by Experienced Candidate

Here Again I am back with one more 5 Day Real Story of Shailendra Rajput at SSB, I must say that he is really a deserving candidate. How he spent his 5 Days at SSB and what are the problems faced by him, how he managed to complete all those tasks and what are his recommendation for other aspirants going for SSB—He has tried to tell everything via this article. I am grateful to him that he send this article to me.

So there I was with my suitcase and ironed formal shirt standing in-front of Allahabad railway station for Indian Army SSB for UES24.

DAY-1
Screening test took place around 0800 hrs. It consists of 2 stages.

A. OLQ test.

Tips: Don’t bluff answers in OLQ answer sheet. Try to attempt maximum questions. Skip the question if you think they’ll consume time for calculations.

B. PP-DT (picture perception & Description Test)

PP-DT is all about perception. Try to make a story which is practical and believable. In the story add officer like personality characters that are within you or you want to have.
After the PP-DT exam, they generally give you break for few minutes. Utilize this break to rehearse your PP-DT story (mentally) because what comes next after PP-DT is Group Discussion of the story you’ve written.
Tips: You’ll be given hardly 1 min to narrate your story. Be loud and clear and confident enough so everybody can listen to it. Don’t stumble or fumble yourself with complicated English words.
During GD, try to help group members come to a conclusion rather pointing out mistakes or proving your story.
Results came out and almost 80% were screened out.
Out of our 264, we’re left 40 for Day-2.
Filling up forms starts next with certificate verification and all.
PIQ- personal information Questionnaire is very important. Be precise and remember what you write in as your hobby/interests/sports/achievements as they will be asked to you in your interview. Don’t fake or lie.
You’re there to become an Indian Army officer, so from here on behave as one.
Have a healthy friendship with all and respect everyone for their spirit to serve the country.

Day-2:
Be focused because its psych test day. WAT, TAT, SRT and all are very important.
WAT- it’s never about attending all 60 words nor is it about using the word in your sentence.
Write the thought that comes to your mind when you see the word. Be honest. Keep the sequence correct in case you miss any word.
“GO WELL PREPARED BEFORE FOR WAT”

SRT- your reactions should be more like taking actions rather handling the responsibility to someone else here. Be in the situation and take control of it.
“DO NOT LEAVE BLANK IN BETWEEN YOUR SRT”

TAT- perceive positive and write it down showing few Officer like qualities. End it in a positive note.
Self Description- Be honest and write stuffs about you in clear hand writing. Do a self-introspection about yourself. Ask your friends, family about you as a person and qualities they like or dislike.

        “SELF INTROSPECTION IS NECESSARY’

Day-3:

GD/ Lecturette/ PGT:

GD- the GD topics are usually current affairs and well known topics. Be active in discussions, don’t sit idle or be scared what others will think. Fact is if you don’t, you will lose the battle.
 My group topic was:
1. Online shopping
2. Youths making girlfriend

Lecturette- choose topic which you’re comfortable with and have enough points to speak for 3 min. A bit of hand gestures are good but don’t over-do it.

PGT- Portray your ideas clearly and make sure everyone is listening to you. This shows command. Be active.

“PGT REQUIRES EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE”
If you are going as a fresher then you should be consulting your friends who have been before to ssb, because at the instant you see planks, balli, ropes so it takes time to generate ideas in your mind, so go well prepared in advance

Day-4:

IO/Command Task/HGT/FGT:

Individual Obstacle: it’s all about checking the basic body fitness.
CT- command task is vital. Before acting on the situation, as a commander take a pause and look around the obstacle and think of possible ideas. Don’t just jump into the field with phatta and balli or load.
HGT- While the entire group is fighting over a path, take a break and look around the other paths available. You might just find the easiest way out.
FGT - Same as above.

Interview:
The interview went for about 1 hour or so. As I was from B. Tech-(MAE), a few technical questions were also asked to me. Apart from that, basic current affairs and general knowledge were also asked. Few of them were about our neighboring countries. They want to know what kind of a person you’re and want to be. They will ask questions regarding family, friends and enemies, girlfriends. Be honest and tell them what’s true. Sometimes the questions become personal, so don’t hesitate to speak the truth or hide anything. Be honest always and open minded. They are not sitting there to judge you by any means. Have an insight about Army, Navy & Air force.
Keep a track on you postures and gestures, body language. Think of at least 3 positive and 3 negative qualities in you. When asked about negative qualities.
Conference- Be cool and relaxed. At times they ask you questions which they asked you in your interview and you failed to answer. So prepare the answers beforehand.

Results- out of 40, 5 were recommended from 34 SSB board for medicals.
Always have a fighting spirit. My rejection in SSB made me prepare more hard and improve in stages where I lack. I kept a note in my pocket with a list in it, jotted down the possible mistakes I might have made in my previous SSB.
Self-introspection had a big help to me. Unless and until you don’t accept your fault you cannot rectify it and move ahead.
Think of it like this, getting a job in a field (armed forces) which gets the highest respect in the country or world, can’t possibly come to oneself so easily. In order to get it, handwork and dedication is inevitable.
Never lose hope and quit, trust me I have done that mistake.
“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong”
